Taste of Timbercrest Multicultural Night

Wednesday, November 19th, 6-8pm

Timbercrest is a school full of diversity and we want to celebrate all of it!

Sponsored by the TMS PTSA, this annual event was designed to continue to support the TMS community by creating additional opportunities to develop connections among our school’s different cultures, which helps strengthen and create a closer community amongst students and their families. Participants share their cultures through food and poster displays in the cafeteria plus optional activity demonstrations. The USA also has many traditions and communities, and we encourage participants to sign up to showcase the regional cultures and heritages that make the USA such a diverse country. Consider sharing customs and foods from your home state, region or local town. All countries and cultures are welcome!

What do we need from you?  We are looking for families of all cultures to participate and showcase their unique traditions, so others can learn about your country through poster display boards, foods, and other items (examples: jewelry, games, maps, etc.). Traditional clothing and dress are encouraged, and we encourage participants to consider if there is a dance, demonstration, and/or performance that you’d like to showcase.

  • Poster display board showcasing your culture and/or country.  The display can include a map, pictures, languages, ceremonies, religions, celebrations, or anything else you would like to share. We also ask that you be there to answer questions about your culture during the event. Poster display boards will be provided by PTSA beginning Monday, October 27th, and students can pick up their boards in the main office after submitting their forms (forms can be submitted either online or in person). Please note that students may NOT take the display boards home on the bus, as per NSD guidance. Participants can also purchase their own display boards-several local stores like Dollar Tree sell the tri-fold display boards.

  • Food samples (optional but greatly encouraged). Please bring a food dish or “small bite” that you feel shows something special about your culture. We ask for approximately 50-75 very small sample-cup sized bites, but more servings are always welcome. All food cups, small spoons, and napkins will be provided by PTSA. Allergy information will be completed at table set up by each presenter.
